Electrical Upgrades
Electrical upgrades cover everything between a single added circuit and a full service increase. The useful distinction is whether you need more capacity or better distribution.
Distribution problems mean the house has enough incoming power but it is not reaching things properly — too few circuits, everything sharing, extension cords in permanent use, no dedicated line for the microwave or the window unit. Those are solved by adding circuits. Capacity problems mean the service itself is too small for what the house now draws, and no amount of rearranging fixes that. The load calculation tells us which one you have, and it is worth knowing before anyone quotes.
Grounding is the upgrade people never ask for and often need. Homes wired before grounding requirements have two-prong outlets, and replacing them with three-prong ones without an actual ground is both common and useless — the outlet accepts the plug but protects nothing.
If you are renovating, do this work then. Opening walls twice costs far more than doing it once, and permits for electrical work alongside a renovation are simpler to coordinate than a standalone job later.
Diagnosis
If cords have become part of the furniture, the house does not have enough outlets in the right places. This is the most common and most fixable issue.
Warmth at a receptacle means resistance where there should be none — usually a loose connection or a circuit carrying more than it should.
Ungrounded receptacles offer no protection for modern electronics and are worth correcting rather than swapping.
